Summary of Combat Operations, June 11th, 2020

From: Chernarus Coastal Operations Group
Subject: Weekly Summary of Combat Operations, from June 5th to June 11th, Inclusive.

Message begins:

The tempo of combat operations continued at an increased pace.

Chernarus Defense Forces, Air Forces and Naval Forces have engaged in seven separate operations against rebel forces in five regions.

1) In Gunkizli on Friday, a task force assembled from 3rd Bn Chernarus 13th Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade was ordered to attack the town of Akdoru.

It was discovered by BN recon staff Akdoru had been taken over by a large rebel force headed by two operatives, Ivan Platonov and Eliza Toska.

Under their command, rebel forces were torturing and executing suspected resistance fighters, and had detained several residents without charge or trial.

The mission was a success with light infantry casualties, three total among the three rifle squads sent to Akdoru.

However, a CDF tank was destroyed.

Before arriving at Akdoru, a CDF attack helicopter encountered a rifle patrol of unknown strength. The bird was ordered on to Akdoru to preserve ammunition.

Documents seized from the person of Toska indicated rebel force in the region intended to increase their activity, including imposing transit taxes and by looting local residences.

2) A two SU-25 aircraft naval aviation sortie out of Balota naval aviation base was ordered to strike a rebel concentration of troops east of Khelm in northern Chernarus late Friday night.

The recon staff at the Chernarus Coastal Operations Group received information about the rebels' plans to amass troops north of Berezino in anticipation of a general offensive to capture Berezino.

The sortie inflicted tremendous damage on rebel forces, damaged vehicles to include three supply trucks and two technicals.

3) On Saturday in Rosche, 4th Bn Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade sent an armored task force to Molbath to oversee the evacuation of civilians from town.

Rebel commanders originally agreed to a cease fire so that the civilians could be safely evacuated, but that changed when rebel commanders found some local politicians and others they had been threatening to put on trial, were evacuating as well.

The evacuation was a success. The civilians were safely removed to behind for brigade forward zone.

Enemy combat activity was light. Field reports say a large number of enemy riflemen attempting to close to town were eliminated. It also was reported by commanders in the field that at least two armor vehicles were destroyed attempting to stop the evacuation.

The mission almost came to failure, when in the middle of the general retreat, an enemy BMP-2 appeared, destroying a T-72 tank.

All other CDF units retreated safely back to the 4th Bn forward zone.

4) Late Saturday night, commander of 1st Bn Chernarus 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade sent out an armored patrol to check out reports of a large maneuver by rebel forces west in Leskovets.

The patrol briefly patrolled the area three kilometers north of Berkovitsa. The patrol found no activity and was ordered back to 7th Brigade's forward zone.

5) Early Sunday morning, a warning order was issued from  brigade commander ordering a task force from 1st Bn be sent north to Varbono in Leskovets. Cell phone surveillance and email intercepts showed to brigade recon staff that rebel forces would arrive in Varbono inside of an hour.

The task force arrived in town after a 45 minute road march. Rebel forces sent in several armored vehicles in addition to the ground troops the rebel had sent forward.

Casualties were heavy. Command squad lost none, 2nd squad lost three and 3rd squad lost two. A tank suffered damage to its fire control system and was ordered to pull back. One of the reinforcing BTR squads lost its BTR and lost seven.

Both SU-25 ground interdiction fighters were shot down with no survivors. On the return leg, 2nd squad was cut down to four when it ran into an ambush set by three technicals

Field reports say the rebels lost one T-55, one BRDM, four technicals and five BMPs.  The battalion recon staff reported the rebel forces do not have the strength to hold the area around Varbono.

6) On Sunday morning, 10th Separate Tank Brigade commander ordered a task force to attack the town of Nateln in Rosche.

According to the order, a large rebel force, led by rebel operatives Viktor Kaba and Ana Senicar, entered Nateln sometime overnight and were preparing to garrison the town. The town mayor, his wife and his sister in law were arrested and held in a small house on the north side of town.

The attack mission was successful but it came at high cost: command squad lost seven including its commander, 2nd squad lost four and 3rd squad lost eight.

Viktor Kaba and Ana Senicar were both eliminated, along with their security detail. Documents found on the person of Ana Senicar said rebel still had the strength to press attacks and to keep the towns they take over.  Supply trucks also were destroyed by the task force.

3rd Squad was ordered to remain in town, unless enemy pressure becomes too much. A tank was left behind to prodide heavy fire support.

The prisoners refused to go with the task force commander and were left in town.

7) In east Werferlingen Wednesday night, 3rd Bn Chernarus 13th Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade sent out a task force from a warning ordered issued by brigade command that rebels would attempt to take Behnsdorf from the march.

The mission was a late night mission, but had to be abandon in Horsengen, about two kilometers south of the area of operation when both tanks and one BTR were driven into the river.

Friendly forces did engage one technical south of Horsingen, and destroyed another in Horsingen.

Losses included two riflemen from 3rd squad, and the vehicles.
