Bridge at Reya Gunde Bihar

A Cherarusian armor group is tasked with seizing a river crossing.  Size of the opposing force is a BTR motorized rifle company and two T-55/122 tank platoons.

Scenario description is as follows:

The commander is to lead an armored group consisting of three BTR rifle squads, a T-80BV tank platoon and a command group with two BMP-2s, one BTR and a security group of four riflemen, plus a logistics group with spare ammunition fuel, repair and medical trucks.

The time is 1700 hrs, November 25th, 2013.  The approach march begins about five kilometers away.  No air support or additonal forces are available.  Dusk falls at around 1800 hrs.

The commander has the option to take the bridge, or simply keep the bridge under observation.

Dusk is falling and the Chernarusian command group is about three kilometers from the bridge.

Chernarusian commander surveys the bridge from the southern side of the river.

Chernarusian commander hoofs it into town, after manueuvering from the west aboard his command BTR and takes a look right next to the river.

Chernarusian commander observes enemy dismounted infantry about 600 meters away and directs Chernarusian BMP cannon fire against an enemy BTR.

One each enemy BTR, burning.

A few minutes later, Chernarusian commander directs friendly BMP cannon fire against a second enemy BTR, destroying it.

Chernarusian BMP gunner destroys enemy BTR with ATGM fire.

A second enemy BTR is destroyed by  ATGM fire from a Chernarusian BMP.

A Chernarusian BTR infantry team leader prepares to cross the bridge.  The BTR is back about 50 meters to providing covering fire.

In the end, one Chernarusian rifle squad, sans its BTR, now disabled by enemy tank gunfire made it across the river.  Tanks were on the other side somewhere, but the commander was unable to find any of them.  The position of the rifle group on the far side of the river was untenable, so the group withdrew to the other side for the night.

Chernarusian losses include the command BTR and a driver, one BTR attempting to cross the river, two disabled T-80 tanks, and one disabled BMP.   A lot of dead bad guys were observed plus the four BTRs, about one third of the enemy's strength.
