Weekly Summary of Operations, Jan 9th, 2020

From: Chernarus Coastal Operations Group
Subject: Weekly Summary of Combat Operations,  from Jan. 3rd to  Jan. 9th, 2020, Inclusive

Message begins:

The tempo of combat operations have decreased substantially, mainly in the area of special operations in the last week.

Chernarus Defense Forces and Naval Forces have engaged in five separate operations against rebel forces in four regions.

1) On Saturday morning in Gunkizli, a battlegroup from 3rd Bn, Chernarus 13th Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade was sent to clear the town of Goztepe of rebel forces. Casualties were extremely light, but the operation was only partially successful. Only one of three intelligence operatives were recovered, the other two were found dead, presumably from friendly fire.

2) Sunday afternoon in Altis, a task force from 1st Bn Chernarus 43rd Motorized Rifle Brigade was tasked with clearing the town of Alikompos of rebel forces. Losses were extremely heavy with 3rd squad being wiped out in an RPG ambush during the retreat and 2rd squad losing six. Command squad lost two. A repair truck was lost by the same patrol which destroyed 2nd squad. The repair truck did manage to repair a tank which had a damaged turret before it was lost.

3) A Chernarus private special operations contractor group was destroyed Tuesday night in Beketov by enemy action.

4) A task force from 2nd Bn, Chenarus 2nd Separate Naval Infantry Brigade was ordered to take the bridge at 20570,10586, in order to secure it for civilian use Wednesday night. Naval artillery took an early hand in the battle, destroying three rebel technicals and a AA shore gun, but attacks by four T-34/85 tanks and two BRDM scout cars proved too much for the task force.  Mission failed.

5) A battlegroup from 2nd Bn, Chernarus 4th Separate Light Rifle Brigade successfully cleared the town Pogorevka of rebel troops Thursday night. Losses were heavy with 2nd squad being nearly wiped out, and command squad losing three to friendly ground interdiction aircraft fire.  The retreat was complicated by attacking rebel infantry which trapped 2nd squad in a position west of town.  Command squad moved to rescue, but ultimately failed, retrieving only two surviving effectives from 2nd squad. 3rd and 4th squad suffered zero losses.
