Chernarusian MOD reveals CNF base in Lingor

CNN -- A spokesman for the Chernarusian Ministry of Defense revealed Saturday that a small military unit currently is based in the tiny island nation of Lingor.

Chernarusian MOD spokesman Captain Olga Medvedev told reporters in a routine press briefing in the capital that the Lingor government has granted basing rights to a small contingent of Chernarusian naval forces, and that Chernarusian Naval Forces (CNF) have already begun operations in the region.

Government sources refused to disclose the size or composition of the forces in the region, only saying they would be used to advance Chernarusian national security.  Capt. Medvedev only said the military base was new and was established in the last two weeks.

Capt. Medvedev also said that the forces are operating under the direct control of the MOD and not Admiral Gorkhov, who controls Chernarus' military's counternarcotics operations in Chernarus.

Much of the marijuana and cocaine sold in Chernarus comes from outside Chernarus, but until today it was unclear where the drugs were being grown.

President Jesus H. Cripez's political allies have been complaining constantly since the establishment of the military mission in Takistan about expanding the military's role in the War on Drugs, and some of the leaders of the president's party complain privately that Chernarusian military forces are being  unnecessarily used in lieu of a police and legal solution.
