Arms interdiction in northeastern Chernarus

The Chernarus Naval Forces naval detachment at Solnichni has been alerted that Chedaki smugglers are moving ammunition from a ship anchored about  one kilometer offshore, and moving it and shooters from other Chedaki operations overseas into Chernarus.

The CNF commander dispatches a six man strike team via Zodiac boat and one naval detachment consisting of two assault ships.  The commander has orders to destroy the cargo ship bringing the supplies and shooters in, and then destroy the supplies and shooters already on shore.

The plan is for the CNF strike team to detonate a bomb aboard the cargo ship, and then redeploy to an area south of the marshaling point for the supplies and shooters, engage, and destroy them.  At the same time the strike team hits the shooters, the naval detachment is to provide gunfire support.

This is a night operation.

The long voyage begins as the CNF strike team and the naval detachment leaves the naval base in Solnichni.

Last visual on part of the naval detachment before the strike teams turns north.

The enemy ship comes into view and then, the shuttle boat makes an appearance.

The shuttle boat returns to shore, and the CNF commander moves his team towards the ship.

The commander boards the ship to set the bomb.  Enemy soldiers are seen to the left.

Both soldiers are eliminated.

Bomb is set!  The commander exits the ship and returns to his boat, then reverses to move out of range. The plan is to destroy both the ship and the supply shuttle simultaneously.

The wait is short as the shuttle craft reappears, then Kilo Foxtrot Bravo!

The CNF strike team waits as the damaged ship quickly sinks!

The strike team makes landfall it its designation insertion point near Rify.  The team begins its march north.

The commander calls on naval gun support as his team maneuvers after making contact with enemy infantry.

After waiting for several minutes for the naval detachment to arrive, the CNF commander decides to attack using only his team.  Where is the damned naval gunfire support?

Because of the terrain and the relative position of the strike team to the enemy infantry, the enemy has yet to find ts targets.

Target acquisition confusion continues to reign as the enemy is being picked apart one by one.  The CNF team started out with  two to one  (16-6) disadvantage, now grinding that down to a more manageable ratio.

Suddenly enemy counterfire goes from sporadic to non-existent as the commander maneuvers his force to gain a better view of the battlefield.

As the team closes on the position, lasers are on.  Only one or two holdouts, and they are quickly dispatched by the team.

The commander clears the area around the ammunition trucks.  Everyone is dead.

The commander sets the charges then clears his team from the blast zone.  Kilo Foxtrot Bravo 2!  Enemy and the supplies are destroyed.

This was the first full run through of the scenario.  I don't know why the naval detachment failed to make its rendezvous in this one but did the second one.
