CNF probes to Vyshnoye

The tiny contingent of Chernarusian troops in Mogilevka have held against a second counterattack starting at 1000 hrs by Chedaki troops, this time twice as many as before, and again those attacks were stopped.

CNF headquarters ordered the CNF strike team on a patrol north.  Intelligence received by aerial recon suggested Chedaki troops were using Vyshnoye as a staging point for their attacks, and to be used as a forward logistic base for those attacks.  As with the operations all day long, a number of enemy and friendly patrols  were taking place in the area as the team advanced.

Recon also suggested that a rifle squad had occupied an abandoned hostel about a kilometer south probably used as a trip wire for forces heading to Vishnoye.

As the strike team approached the hostel in stealth, the commander observed a PK machine gunner facing south.  No other troops could be seen and a number of firefights were taking place in the area, so the commander decided to eliminate the unit.  A single AK74 rifle shot brought the unit down at 220 meters.

The CNF team entered the compound and searched it to find it abandoned by enemy troops.

CNF  strike team is preparing to move out to its main objective, Vyshnoye.  The dead PK gunner can be seen next to the hostel.
The situation at Vyshnoye:  Intel said before this operation began that two enemy rifle squads were occupying Vyshnoye in the northern sector of the village.  Intel also indicated that a third rifle squad was stationed to guard the main north-south highway east of Vyshnoye one kilometer away, and to act as a quick reaction force.
The CNF commander decided to march his team west and then north taking advantage of the terrain in the approach march.

CNF moves silently through terrain in the march to the objective.

Instead of overlooking the town the point of assault was below the town, so a direct approach from the west was ruled out.  The CNF commander decides to move his force rapidly, slightly east southeast across open terrain to take advantage of the buildings in the village for cover as the team advanced north.
CNF commander carefully takes a peek from behind a building on the southern edge of the village.  At  ranges of less than 50 meters, forces will have next to no reaction time once enemy forces acquire them.

Fairly solid look north.  No one appears to be home.

Strike team continues its steady advance through the village, making zero contact with enemy elements.  One dead enemy AK-47 rifleman was found suggesting other friendlies in the area drove them from the village before the CNF team arrived..

Sweep complete and confirmed:  Enemy were either driven from the village or were killed by other friendly forces.

The CNF commander calls up ammunition resupply and a mobile SPG antitank platoon, and decides to prepare to stay the night.
