2nd Army Corps Pre-Deployment Report

2nd Army Corps Pre-Deployment Report

Deployment Overview

The 2nd Tank Battalion and 3rd Tank Battalion of the Chernarus 3rd Tank Brigade are preparing for deployment to the standard forward zone deployment in northwestern Chernarus. This deployment will serve as a temporary marshaling point for combat operations in the region. The 3rd Battalion of the Chernarus 20th Separate Mechanized Cavalry Regiment has been moved to a reserve role for emergency use.

Intelligence Summary

Chernarus 2nd Army Corps intelligence indicates that enemy forces are planning to deploy between two and four mixed brigades to the region. These forces are expected to include heavy tracked and light wheeled armor, Russian militia, Russian naval infantry special forces, and Spanish-speaking regulars. Enemy operatives have been training armed civilians for use as combat auxiliaries and engaging in electronic media warfare, criminal activities, and violence to intimidate the local populace.

Terrain Assessment

The region is characterized by large expanses of flat terrain, which will pose significant challenges for friendly forces. Infantry casualties are expected to be high due to the long standoff distances that will be encountered. Additionally, winter weather has already arrived in the region, and up to half of combat operations could be conducted in blizzard conditions.

Force Considerations

The available forces are insufficient to cover the entire frontage of the region, so mobility will be crucial in preventing enemy advances. Friendly forces will need to be agile and adaptable to effectively counter enemy threats in this challenging environment.

Recommendations

Emphasize mobility training and tactics to maximize maneuverability in the open terrain.

Develop contingency plans for operations in blizzard conditions.

Employ reconnaissance and surveillance assets to identify and track enemy movements.

Utilize close air support and indirect fire to suppress enemy positions.

Coordinate closely with Chernarus Coastal Operations Group to ensure a unified response to enemy threats.

Chernarus Defense Forces Independent Ground Units

Chernarus Defense Forces have a number of independent ground units:

47th Separate Air Assault Battalion

48th Separate Air Assault Battalion

49th Separate Air Assault Battalion

Each air assault battalion is organized as any CDF ground unit. Their training is identical to that delivered to any light brigade's 3rd battalion in that they are special operations capable, and are airmobile and parachute trained. The air assault battalions carry no fire support other than 82mm mortars. They must rely on air support for ground interdiction and for transport.

The 47th and 48th Air Assault battalions are temporarily attached to the Chernarus Coastal Operations Group strategic formation.  They are on 24 hour deployment, which means they can be anywhere in Chernarus territories within 24 hours after a readiness check.

The 49th Air Assault Battalion is temporarily attached to Chernarus 1st Army Corps, for operations in 1st Corps area of responsibility, namely Chernarus, Utes, Moschniy, and Miroslavl.

Chernarus also has three independent Cossack staffed combat regiments:

17th Independent Cossack Mechanized Cavalry Regiment (Berezino)

19th Independent Cossack Mechanized Cavalry Regiment (Atamen Krogryzh)

20th Independent Cossack Mechanized Cavalry Regiment (Hetman Shavchenko)

These units have two motorized rifle battalions and one tank battalion each. They are Cossack staffed with Cossack officers and cadre. They have no organize fire support assets, so they must rely on assigned artillery or corps artillery for fire support.

Summary of Operations, May 21st, 2020

From: Chernarus Coastal Operations Group Subject: Weekly Summary of Combat Operations, from May 15th to May 21st, Inclusive.

 Message begins:

The tempo of combat operations continued at a moderate pace. Chernarus Defense Forces, Air Forces and Naval Forces have engaged in six separate operations against rebel forces in four regions.
 1) A naval infantry task force from 1st Bn Chernarus 2nd Separate Naval Infantry Brigade attacked the locality of north Ravijoki Friday night. Brigade intelligence staff said that two rebel operatives, Yevgeniy Samarchenko and Jelena Stajsic led a large rebel infantry/techincals group into town in an effort to recruit local labor and shooters.

Losses for the operation were heavy. 2nd Squad was wiped out by friendly artillery fire which was aimed at a machine gun technical in the south of town. 3rd squad lost none while command squad lost three including the commander.

The task of assassinating Samarchenko and Stajsic was successful. Important intelligence documents were seized. The task force was ordered to retreat in the face of massive enemy reinforcements when the commander was killed.

 2) Command of Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade received a warning order Saturday afternoon that rebel forces would strike at Klein Pritzier. The task force quickly moved to Klein Pritzier to set up a defense. Reports from the field were that one enemy BRDM and one technical were destroyed along with an undetermined number of infantry.

Losses to this point were light with command squad and 2nd squad each losing one. Once the retreat orders came down, the real losses began to mount. One of the reinforcing BTR squads lost four, plus their BTR, while the other lost four. Brigade recon section did not expect such a deep penetration of enemy forces, so the brigade commander is requesting an attack on a rebel locale in the west.

 3) A second task force from 4th Bn Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade launched an attack on Teyendorf, based on recon reports from brigade recon staff, which had been taken over by a rebel force headed by Matija Depreradovich and Svetlana Zhukova. The rebels had taken over the town in search of monetary tribute from residents and to recruit slave labor.

The attack was planned to force the bridgehead south of town with covering fire from two tanks, and then moving another tank across the river once command squad could hold a crossroads in town. Command squad led the assault across the bridge, but the assault failed when the commander was killed by a burst from an M2 technical.

Brigade command expects another attack will be launched as early as first light Sunday.

 4) Another warning order to 4th Bn was issued by 10th Separate Tank Brigade command Sunday morning that a rebel armor force was heading to Molbath in Rosche to try to take it by storm. The task force assembled arrived ahead of time to set up a mobile defense against the enemy force.

The mission was successful, and losses were moderate: command squad lost one, 2nd squad lost five while 3rd squad lost three. 2nd squad's BTR was destroyed. One tank was repaired in the field but the commander ordered it abandoned after it was found to be out of fuel. Refueling operations would have been far too dangerous. One of the BRDM scout cars was abandoned after it became stuck.

Two friendly SU-25 ground interdiction aircraft were shot down. Both pilots were lost. The task force riflemen acquitted themselves well by destroying by RPG fire two of the three T-55 tanks. Brigade recon said that they expected rebel forces to try for another coup, as soon as Sunday.

 5) A task group with 4th Bn, Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade was ordered to attack the town of Rassau after brigade command received reports rebel forces had taken over the town.

Command squad took the brunt of the losses after it attacked a concentration of rifle forces protecting the rebel command group. The attack failed when the task force commander was killed by a sniper.

 6) Commander 2nd Bn, Chernarus 33rd Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade received a warning order Tuesday night about a rebel movement into the town of Hirschof in Cham.

The task force assembled arrived ahead of the rebel force, but after two tanks were lost, and relief forces were caught by enemy spearheads two kilometers south of town, the task force commander ordered a retreat.

The enemy spearheads had engaged and damaged two relief BTR rifle squads, effectively cutting off the task force. The command squad managed to make it through the cordon despite being fired on by a BMP and a T-34 tank. Ad hoc commander of the forces still in town, Sr. Lt Masin managed to organze a breakout using the sole remaining tank. Losses were heavy. Two tanks were destroyed in town, 2nd squad lost five and 3rd squad lost eight. One relief squad lost six, while the other lost seven.

Summary of Operations, May 14th, 2020

From: Chernarus Coastal Operations Group
Subject: Weekly Summary of Combat Operations, from May 8th to May 14th, Inclusive.

Message begins:

The tempo of combat operations continued at a moderate pace.

Chernarus Defense Forces, Air Forces and Naval Forces have engaged in six separate operations against rebel forces in four regions.

1) A task force formed from 3rd Bn, Chernarus 13th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, attacked the locality of Bozkoy in Gunkizli Friday evening after brigade recon staff learned that a rebel group, led by criminal commander Georgi Horvat, had taken over the town.

Horvat and a substantial military force were sent to Bozkoy to establish rebel dominance, to enable their various criminal enterprises, including smuggling, drug manufacturing and human trafficking

Horvat and his unidentified female assistant were killed by Chernarus army troops.

The cost of the operation was very heavy: 3rd squad was wiped out presumably by an RPG shot, including its BTR. 2nd squad lost four. The commander was killed in the operation.

Documents seized from the person of the female assistant, said that rebel forces will continue to infiltrate south and make continual attempts to establish their dominance in villages

Other action in the operation included two separate fire fights between CDF armor and rebel foot patrols.  Both engagements were not decided. A separate patrol, which took place Thursday also engaged an enemy patrol, but failed to find the bandits. That patrol returned to base without further incident.

2) Chernarus Naval Forces launched an air strike out of the naval aviation base at Balota against rebel occupying forces in Krasnostav in Chernarus Friday morning.

Chernarus Coastal Operation Group recon staff received word overnight that rebel forces were moving into Krasnostav.  Recon staff said the rebel move was in response to an ongoing dispute between the town mayor and rebel commanders over food, material, and labor requisitions.

A subsequent bomb damage assessment team in this form of a Chernarus naval infantry rifle squad (3rd Bn (Airmobile)) Chernarus 2nd Naval Infantry Brigade) was dispatched by MI-17 transport, to mop up remaining rebel forces.

Both pilots in the airstrikes and all elements of the bomb assessment team returned to base safely.

Bomb damage assessment reports from Chernarus Coastal Operations Group are usually classified, but it is said the damage to rebel forces was heavy.

3) A private contractor special forces team was inserted near Kozlovo in Beketov Saturday morning to locate and destroy a rebel helicopter.

The mission was a success, but losses were high. While evacuating via gunship, the commander died from his wounds. The team also lost its medic.

The loss of the helicopter and the acquisition of new intelligence has severely damaged rebels' efforts in the region.

3) Also on Saturday, an element of 4th Bn, Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade launched an attack on Schlieckau in Rosche after brigade recon staff determined a large rebel force has taken over the town the night before.

The task force failed in its attempt to eject rebel forces from town, and was forced to withdraw back to base.

The task force commander was killed in the attack.

4) On Sunday, 4th battalion command of Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade sent out a task group on reports the rebels would attempt to take Teyendorf in Rosche from the march.

The operation encountered problems from the start, especially with the lack of engineering reports on river crossings on Wipperau River. The task force was forced to squeeze its forces through the choke point of a bridge to the south of Teyendorf to get into town to set up a mobile defense.

The first encounter was west of Teyendorf with a group of technicals, which attacked friendly forces as they made their way east into town.  2nd squad lost five in an encounter with a heavy machine gun technical. A scout BRDM lost its commander and was forced back.

Rebels threw their tracked vehicles into the fight in town losing all of them especially their T-55 tanks and BMP IVFs.

As night fell, the task force was retreated back across the river to safety.

Brigade command sent out a warning order of an impending rebel attack in Rosche in the west.

5) On Tuesday a task force from 4th Bn Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade was ordered to Hanstedt in Roshe on news rebel forces, led by Georgi Horvat and Floriana Vuthaj, had entered town and had taken over.

Losses were heavy for CDF forces with 2nd squad losing six, 3rd squad losing 10 and command squad losing four.  A tank was rendered ineffective when its commander was killed.

The rebel leadership was wiped out and the town was cleared of rebel forces.  Three supply trucks were destroyed as well as a number of rebel armor vehicles.

Intelligence documents taken from the person of Floriana Vuthaj indicated rebel forces would attempt another attack in the west, but failed to mention where.

The remainder of CDF forces retreated back to base in good order.

Addendum: The task force commander initially ordered concentric attacks on Hanstedt, with 2nd and 3rd squads attacking west from the march along with all three tanks, and command squad attacking from the southeast. This maneuvver effectly cut off the main north south road leading into town, and placed the task force strike element as an armor block against enemy reinforcements

The initial encounter for the command squad was a rebel foot patrol south of town. Command squad continued to penetrate into town, eliminating most of the patrol, but experiencing some losses in infantry.

6) On Wednesday, a task group formed from 2nd Bn, Chernarus 17th Separate Light Rifle Brgade launched an attack on Sevastianovo in Beketov after brigade recon staff learned the town has been taken over by a rebel infantry/light vehicle force.

Losses in the operation were light with 3rd squad loosing three, and command squad losing one.  A CDF MI-24 attack helicopter was shot down near Sevastianovo,  with one crew surviving.

Ultimately, the attack failed. The task  group command was killed in his final assault to eliminate the rebel command group

Summary of Combat Operations, May 7th, 2020

From: Chernarus Coastal Operations Group
Subject: Weekly Summary of Combat Operations, from May 1st to May 7th, Inclusive.

Message begins:

The tempo of combat operations continued at a moderate pace.

Chernarus Defense Forces, Air Forces and Naval Forces have engaged in five separate operations against rebel forces in five regions.

1) A task force formed from 4th Bn, Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade, moved to Nateln in Rosche to intercept a rebel armor force, and to prevent it from moving further south.

The mission was successful but the costs were high: two Chernarus Air Force SU-25 ground interdiction fighters were lost.  2nd Squad lost their BTR and three riflemen, while 3rd squad lost two.

Brigade recon staff said that the rebels will make another attempt to move south.

2) Saturday afternoon, 1st Bn, Chernarus 17th Separate Light Rifle Brigade was assigned the task of overseeing the evacuation of a small number of civilians from Shagrenovo in Beketov.

Many of those civilians, half of them female had been under threat by insurgent forces to be captured or killed, so the brigade commander decided to assign a small task force to protect Shagrenovo as civilians gathered to be taken to safety.

Some smaller sub operations were conducted, one of them being hunting and eliminating an enemy foot patrol which threatened the evacuation plans. A friendly foot patrol was almost destroyed, even with artillery fire support. The enemy patrol was found and destroyed.

The second smaller operation included clearing the airfield south of Shagrenovo of enemy forces who form the basis of patrols in the west Treshka River area.

Losses were high in defending the evacuation with command squad being wiped out, 2nd squad losing four and third squad losing two.

No heavy vehicles were lost in the evacuation.

 The civilians arrived safely.

 3) On Sunday, Chernarus naval pilots launched two air strikes against enemy targets. The first was a nocturnal sortie against an enemy freighter and three escort ships anchored off the eastern coast of Chernarus, moving supplies to rebel troops. The sorties destroyed the ships.

The pilots returned to their base at Balota safely.

In the second mission, another nocturnal airstrike was launched on reports that rebels were amassing troops near Khelm.

Bomb damage assessments reported the airstrike did considerable damage to rebel troops concentrations in the area, damage which included two AGS technicals.

Both pilots returned to their base at Balota safely.

 4) On Wednesday, a task force from 2nd Bn Chernarus 2nd Naval Infantry Brigade attacked Dorida in Altis with the task of eliminating a criminal command group headed by Ruslan Kravchuk.

In the initial landing the force encountered and destroyed a beach patrol , then proceeded inland, and cleared a built up area of enemy troops.

In Dorida, command squad located a destroyed the command group, seized documents, and destroyed enemy supply trucks.

Losses were heavy: Command squad lost two, 2nd squad lost three while 3rd  squad lost nine. 2nd squad was folded into 3rd squad for the last stages of the attack.

All friendly ground forces withdrew from Dorida safely.

Two Greek F-4 Phantoms participated in the attack, but both were shot down. All air crews were killed.

 5) Also on Wednesday, a task force from 2nd Bn Chernarus 33rd Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade was ordered to Hirschhoff in Cham to eliminate a criminal command group.

The mission was a success. Losses were moderate with 2nd and 3rd squads losing one rifleman.  During the retreat, Chernarus tank engaged rebel armor. One friendly T-72 tank was damaged and abandoned after a tank gun fight with a T-55. Enemy losses were indeterminate.

Documents seized indicated that the rebel moves into Hirschoff may have been a outlier, that rebel commanders do not expect to gain ground in Cham.

From: Chernarus Coastal Operations Group
Subject: Weekly Summary of Combat Operations, from April 17th to April 23rd, Inclusive.

Message begins:

The tempo of combat operations continued at an increased pace.

Chernarus Defense Forces, Air Forces and Naval Forces have engaged in eight separate operations against rebel forces in three regions.

1) On Sunday, an early morning SU-25 naval aviation sortie was launched in response to the rebel deployment of two ZU-23 antiaircraft trucks on Black Mountain.

Both vehicles were successfully eliminated, and the pilots returned to the naval aviation base at Balota.

The sortie lasted 13 minutes.

One pilot was wounded in the action.

2) Also on early Sunday, Chernarus naval intelligence located four supply trucks the rebels had staged near Pobeda Dam.  A two aircraft SU-25 stortie from Balota was launched.

All four supply vehicles were destroyed. The sortie returned to base safetly.

The sortie lasted 18 minutes.

3) Again, on Sunday, a task group with 1st Bn, Chernarus 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade went to Balyvitsa in Leskovets to recover a tank abandoned in an earlier operation.

The operation was abandoned when the commander was killed.

4) On Monday, a battle group from Chernarus 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade was ordered to Kostensi in Leskovets to eliminate Enver Hoxha and Bonjana Dubrojevic, both of whom were part of a criminal command group which had taken over the town.

As in the operation the week before, command squad executed a large enveloping movement to the west, and began to clear the town.

An enemy infantry counterattack overwhelmed command squad. The task force was withdrawn due to heavy losses. The commander was killed.

5) Also on Monday, a sortie of two Chernarus Naval aviation SU-25 fighters destroyed five rebel ships. The ships, four sub chasers and a freighter were about to offload supplies to rebel forces north of Berezino, when they were spotted by air patrols.

No friendly forces suffered casualties.

The sortie lasted 18 minutes.

6) On Tuesday Chernarus Naval Aviation Forces launched two SU-25 air strikes in response to rebel moves.

The first airstrike was near Krasnostav, where rebels had built up an infantry/mobile force.  At least one technical was destroyed in the sortie.

No friendly forces suffered casualties.

The sortie lasted 18 minutes.

The second airstrike was near Pobeda Dam, where for the second time in two days, rebel forces deployed four BM-21 rocket artillery launchers.

All four artillery launchers were destroyed.

Friendly forces suffered no casualties.

The sortie lasted 13 minutes.

7) On Wednesday, a strike element of 1st Bn Chernarus 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade was ordered to clear east Granichak (Leskovets) of rebel troops.

The main task for the task force was the elimination of the criminal command group headed by Georgi Horvat and Annet Rulin.

On the road march to the area of operation, the task force encountered at least two enemy foot patrols. An unplanned sweep by command squad failed to turn up any of the patrols.  3rd Squad lost one from enemy patrol actions.

The initial attack on the town was quick and violent for enemy troops. However, 2nd squad became wedged north of the main highway and then overwhelmed by enemy reinforcements pouring in from the north, which included a BMP IFV.  2nd squad was wiped out.

Once the order came down to withdraw, command squad, supported by a BRDM scout car and a tank, fought a brief firefight against an enemy infantry block south of town, identified as Serb solders.

In the retreat, the task force encountered one of the foot patrols from earlier. Command squad wiped them out.

Documents seized from the person of Rulin showed rebels will continue attacking in the west, and that they have the troops to force a decision.

8) On Thursday, two separate Chernarus Naval Aviation SU-25 sorties were launched against rebel forces.

The first sortie was a night mission intended to attack and destroy rebel forces in east Krasnostav.

Rebel forces suffered critical loses at Krasnostav including two technicals and two supply trucks.

The mission lasted 15 minutes.

The first sortie lost an aircraft.

The second sortie was sent to an area near Pobeda Dam to destroy four BM-21 rocket artillery  launchers for the third time in two days.

All four launchers were destroyed.

The sortie suffered no casualties.

A subsequent landing by an airmobile Naval Infantry bomb damage assessment group confirmed the damage assessment.

Summary of Combat Operations, Apr. 10th to Apr 16th

From: Chernarus Coastal Operations Group
Subject: Weekly Summary of Combat Operations, from April 10th to April 16th, Inclusive.

Message begins:

The tempo of combat operations continued at a moderate place.

Chernarus Defense Forces and Naval Forces have engaged in five separate operations against rebel forces in three regions.

1) On Saturday a task group from 1st Bn 7th Motorized Rifle Brigade attacked west Granichak in an operation intended to clear the town of rebel forces, and to eliminate a rebel commander and his deputy.

The commander was killed early in the operation, so the operation was abandoned.

2) Also on Saturday, a task force assembled from 2nd Bn Chernarus 2nd Separate Naval Infantry Brigade attacked a locale in southern Virolahti in an operation intended to eliminate a criminal command group, lead by Enver Hoxja, and to clear the village of rebel troops.

In the initial encounter, 2nd squad was sent east to clear out a built up area when it encountered a technical.  Commander ordered three danger close naval artillery missions which eventually destroyed the technical.

Meanwhile, 3rd squad was sent north in an enveloping movement to act as a fire block against rebel rapid reaction troops. It too encountered a technical (M2 heavy machine gun) which was destroyed with naval artillery as well.

Command squad found a number of dead which were Russian MVD troops. Command squad pushed their way to the criminal command hideout and eliminated the remaining element of the command group.

Documents were seized from the eliminated second in command, which could prove to be valuable.

3rd squad was cut down to just three effectives, while 2nd squad and command squad each lost three. The task force was forced to retreat under heavy pressure from arriving enemy reinforcements, and was unable to complete its mission of destroying supply trucks.

3) On Sunday, a Chernarus private contractor special forces team went to Klamila in Virolahti to eliminate the criminal Ferid Murad and his assisstant Svetlana Kournikova.

The criminal command element also was holding and abusing some local civilians.

On the way to the area of operation, the team found a large mobile patrol and eliminated one by sniper fire.  Supporting aircraft likely destroyed the other three vehicles in the patrol.

Three team members were killed in the attack. But with only two members of the team remaining, the criminal command element was eliminated and the prisoners were released, and taken to safety.

Documents were also found on the person of Kournikova, which indicated the need to increase patrols in the area despite a manpower shortage.

4) On Tuesday, a battlegroup from 1st Bn, Chernarus 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade went to Kostensi to clear the village and to eliminate a command group which included Agim Gojcaj and Ersela Coba.

A total of three civilian prisoners were held by the criminal command group, said by brigade recon staff to be three of our intelligence operatives. All three were rescued, but one of the females were gunned down by rebel troops on her way to the safety of the command BTR.

Both elements of the criminal command group were eliminated, and important documents found on the person of Coba were seized by the commander.

The town was cleared on enemy troops, but the commander, in trying to destroy supply trucks was killed by a rebel machine gunner.

Intelligence documents indicated that the rebels plan to further consolidate their hold on western Leskovets.

Reports by the other commanders in the battlegroup suggest the attack crippled rebel forces in the area, despite our losses.

5) On Wednesday,a Chernarus private contractor special forces team attacked an  enemy compound just sound of the airfield near Krasnostav to eliminate a criminal command group, including Jovan Koncarevic and Igna Kournikova. The team had attacked the same compound only a week before, and eliminated another criminal command group.

Supported by two MI-24 attack helicopters, the team made the objective and eliminated the criminal command group along with their security detail, as well several technicals.

Documents seized from the person of Kournikova indicated local comanders are worred about increasing patrols in the area.

The team suffered no losses in the operation.

Weekly Summary of Operations, Jan 16th, 2020

From: Chernarus Coastal Operations Group
Subject: Weekly Summary of Combat Operations,  from Jan. 10th to  Jan. 16th, 2020, Inclusive

Message begins:

The tempo of combat operations have decreased in the last week.

Chernarus Defense Forces and Naval Forces have engaged in four separate operations against rebel forces in four regions.

1) An element from 2nd Bn, Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade was sent to northern Hellanmaa Friday morning to recover three intelligence agents being held captive by rebel forces.  The task force was unable to find the agents, and was forced to retreat when the commander was killed. It was later discovered that the agents were never there.

2) Saturday morning, a battlegroup from 3rd Bn Chernarus 13th Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade was sent to Wallbeck in east Werferlingen to clear the town of rebel forces which recently had taken over.  The battle group encountered rebel armor north of Schwanefeld. One enemy BTR-80A has slipped by a cordon setup north of town and destroyed a repair vehicle and a T-72 tank. A relieving tank from Bartleslebel, along with a reinforcing motorized rifle platoon defeated the APC.  The operation to retake Wallbeck was abandoned when the battlegroup commander was killed.

3) Sunday morning, a private special forces group was sent to a location in northern Altis to locate and eliminate rebel commander Ivan Plantanov, and his assistant Danijela Ristic. The mission was a failure when the commander was killed.

4) Sunday evening a task group from 1st Bn Chernarus 17th Separate Light Rifle Brigade was sent to Khuzhadon in Beketov to oversee an evacuation of civilians. A number of complications arose during the operation including expending a large amount of allocated high explosive artillery ammunition, used to destroy rebel patrols along with Treshka River.  A rebel patrol also discovered the trucks to be used in evacuating the civilians and fired on them. Many of the civilians abandoned the truck. The site commander arrived and held the position until the trucks left. Losses were very heavy with 4th, 5th and 6th squads being nearly wiped out.

Weekly Summary of Operations, Jan 9th, 2020

From: Chernarus Coastal Operations Group
Subject: Weekly Summary of Combat Operations,  from Jan. 3rd to  Jan. 9th, 2020, Inclusive

Message begins:

The tempo of combat operations have decreased substantially, mainly in the area of special operations in the last week.

Chernarus Defense Forces and Naval Forces have engaged in five separate operations against rebel forces in four regions.

1) On Saturday morning in Gunkizli, a battlegroup from 3rd Bn, Chernarus 13th Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade was sent to clear the town of Goztepe of rebel forces. Casualties were extremely light, but the operation was only partially successful. Only one of three intelligence operatives were recovered, the other two were found dead, presumably from friendly fire.

2) Sunday afternoon in Altis, a task force from 1st Bn Chernarus 43rd Motorized Rifle Brigade was tasked with clearing the town of Alikompos of rebel forces. Losses were extremely heavy with 3rd squad being wiped out in an RPG ambush during the retreat and 2rd squad losing six. Command squad lost two. A repair truck was lost by the same patrol which destroyed 2nd squad. The repair truck did manage to repair a tank which had a damaged turret before it was lost.

3) A Chernarus private special operations contractor group was destroyed Tuesday night in Beketov by enemy action.

4) A task force from 2nd Bn, Chenarus 2nd Separate Naval Infantry Brigade was ordered to take the bridge at 20570,10586, in order to secure it for civilian use Wednesday night. Naval artillery took an early hand in the battle, destroying three rebel technicals and a AA shore gun, but attacks by four T-34/85 tanks and two BRDM scout cars proved too much for the task force.  Mission failed.

5) A battlegroup from 2nd Bn, Chernarus 4th Separate Light Rifle Brigade successfully cleared the town Pogorevka of rebel troops Thursday night. Losses were heavy with 2nd squad being nearly wiped out, and command squad losing three to friendly ground interdiction aircraft fire.  The retreat was complicated by attacking rebel infantry which trapped 2nd squad in a position west of town.  Command squad moved to rescue, but ultimately failed, retrieving only two surviving effectives from 2nd squad. 3rd and 4th squad suffered zero losses.

Force Interdiction Operation

This scenario was put together well before I acquired Arma 3, and will be duplicated on Altis using Arma 3

Major, Chernarus naval intelligence just received word that a Molation Army detachment is being sent to Cruce as a punitive measure for hosting the evacuation of the three personalities your team assisted two days ago.

The American regional commander says that at the moment, no other ground forces are available to counter this raid, so our forces, and an American tier one team are the only forces available.  The American team will infiltrate into town, and attempt to block enemy incursions into town. The commander also has made four US Navy ground interdiction aircraft (F/A-18Es) available for airstrikes.

According to wireless intercepts, the Molations are sending a BMP-2 rifle section consisting of two BMP rifle squads and a T-55 tank platoon to town with the intention of punishing the residents.  Additionally, several enemy patrols are expected to be in the area, including some light technicals.

The American team will act independent of your command, but may call for help in evacuating.  If not, the tier one team will evacuate aboard their Humvee at the same time as your team.

Your team and a weapons team will land by boat at MLZ1 and move with all due haste to a location south of Cruce overlooking town to set up your AT-4 Fagot ATGM.  It is recommended your team have as many RPGs as they can reliably carry as well as at least one PK machine gun.

Once the enemy forces come into range, use the airstrikes first to destroy as much of the enemy forces as possible before you use the ATGM.

Your task is to prevent the Molation force from entering town, if possible by destroying all enemy armor and their infantry.

A total victory means all enemy armor is destroyed, and Cruce is unoccupied by any Molation element.

Once the outcome has been determined, your teams will evacuate the area and extract by boat.

All the best, major.

Chernarus Winter Air Campaign

Note: This is one of the first scenarios/campaigns I planned after acquiring Arma 3.

Chernarus Winter Air Campaign

Chernarusian rebels are planning a spring offensive in the northeast.  At the moment some forces are already deployed to that area, but their plans involve reinforcing those troops with artillery and AA guns.

As of the date of this document, the rebels have one AA battery and one mixed artillery battery already deployed around Krasnostav, as well as other mobile troops, including tanks.

We have learned that the rebels are planning to move one mixed artillery battalion and one ZU-23/2 AA regiment into Chernarus, along with the necessary support vehicles.

Over the next eight weeks we estimate the rebel will move a total of 400 trucks laden with fuel and ammunition, along with 20 ZU-23/2 trucks, eight BM-21 and four 2S1 SP artillery vehicles.  The projected route they will take will start in Skalka to Petrovka to Grishino to Gvozdna to Krasnostav.

Your air squadron will be strained planning to intercept those vehicles in addition to maintaining maritime patrols between Solnichni and O'lsha.  Both are priorities, so reducing activity in one sector in favor of another is not an option.

We have two naval spetsnaz units deployed to the northeast to keep continuous observation on the projected rebel supply route.  Once a column is spotted, your air operations commander will be notified through Admiral Petrov's staff, giving your force sufficient time to intercept.

The supply convoys will have between five and eight trucks in them, and will likely include some technicals as escorts.  On any given day the rebels may choose to move two convoys through the area.

Counterinsurgency Attack in Kabanino

A forward element of the Chernarus 33rd Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle brigade is assigned the task of clearing Kabanino.

The town had been taken over by a combination of local armed militia and professional shooters.

The mission highlights:

The damage to the squad didn't begin until one of the rifle squads took RPG fire.
Command squad once again took the brunt of the damage in the initial assault.
One of the squads was nearly destroyed trying to break out of the AO by a recoilless rifle technical posted on a height to the west.  The same technical destroyed one of the tanks.
The other squad, moving by a commandeered civilian truck made it out safely.
The task force continued to encounter enemy fire 500 to 600 meters from the southern edge of Kabanino.
The command squad lost four effectives.

group is attempting to infiltrate

Planning to exit Kananino after receiving orders

Looking east, as another enemy rifle group
attempts to infiltrate town

Looking north

One of the other rifle squad's BTR was damaged
by several RPG shots.  It was abandoned.
When the order came down to evacuate, the rifle
squad commandeered a truck.

Today's counterinsurgency mission in Chernarus

Anatomy of a tank gun fight:  Chernarus T-80BV vs. rebel T-34/85

Caught the action just as the first T-34 was destroyed. Another T-80 was maneuvering into position as the pictured T-80 was firing on the second enemy tank.

If you look closely, you can see the other T-34 moving right to left as the T-80 continues to acquire its target

Hit!

A dumb move.  Tried to stand and fight, when I shoulda run to cover.

Briefing: Spy Craft in Altis

Spycraft in Altis:
Strategic Situation: A Chernarus naval spetsnaz team was sent to a location near Liminchori to locate and extract a small group of Russians who want to defect to the Americans.
The team was caught by rebel patrols and were forced to hole the defectors up in an abandoned building and call for help.
Command sent in two naval infantry squads to take over security, but they were ambushed. We lost one assault boat, and eight infantry.
The other boat was damaged beyond field repair. At the moment we have 12 marines unable to fight and without weapons, and we have to get them out.
Situation: Nearly every boat in our inventory is either under repair or currently in use in other operations, along with replacement naval infantry units. Your unit is the only one left, and you have one boat left to extract our forces and the Russian defectors.
The boat will make several runs to evacuate every one, and it will take time.
At the moment, the leader of the group is in cell phone contact with our commander and with the rebel commander trying to get the best deal.
Our performance so far is getting close to breaking the deal.
Intelligence is light. Naval intelligence seems to think that the enemy is facing much the same problems we have with losses and shifting of forces to the north in Molos.
What we do not know is if the enemy decides to shift forces enough to overrun our positons.
Expect attacks by rebel infantry and by local militia units, as well as lightly armed technicals. We do not know how many, but we do know they will keep hitting us until they, or we are done.
The naval spetsnaz team is currently dealing with rebel attacks on the defectors location. We have 12 friendly wounded which are unable to fight if the enemy decides to overrun our evacuation zone. One four man naval shore security detachment is at the landing site along with a lone beachmaster.
Operational Order: The wounded go first and in two trips. Next, the defectors along with the naval spetsnaz team.
Your squad will be last to go along with the beachmaster and the naval shore security team. How to stall and delay/deal with attacks are your problem. Command says that if negotiations are not concluded in our favor in 90 minutes, you are ordered to eliminate the defectors and evacuate.
